Member-only story

As a young man, I looked up to this man and forward to his presence in movies. He took roles that challenged status quo and made us proud as youth from the Caribbean. Guess who’s coming to dinner, Mr Tibs, To Sir with love, and many of his films where he stood tall as a young black man striving for great but overcame. the challenged of the JIM CROW LAWS. Man! I loved what he stood for.; fighter, a leader, exemplication of patience and calm. A man of man. Sydney, you did your job well. Well done. Thank you for being the bridge, so that we developed hope and the will to want to do better. Thank you. Rest now.
