Fathers are Unique

Being a father is unique. The words “l love you” from an offspring are like a masterpiece to the ear, no matter how old the child is. It’s an authentic feeling.

I lost the opportunity to say those words to my dad very early in my life, not because I saw him for the last time at age 13: and not because he passed away a couple of years later, but because I never knew how to. The third world culture groomed “tough” boys/men. Saying “I love you” was not the manly thing to do, just as it is with crying.

The real meaning of fathers day, however, is the lessons learned from raising children; their eyes look deep into yours, and the break of their smiles or laughs sink through. When they learn to talk, their natural expression “I love you, dad” reveals the true meaning of “love without returns.” That’s love unconditionally.

When cool air moves into a room, it pushes out the hot and miserable humidity. Likewise, when love enters the mind (heart), it pushes away hate, misery, and antagonism. Move out the negatives today, and let love in to stay.

There is still time for you to say “I love you, dad,” to your father while he can hear you; It feels good. Tell him.

Happy Fathers Day
