Harry, you did your job well. RIP
Today no one stands for anything. Everyone is running scared because they don't know if their colleagues, friends, and families will stand by them if they stand for a cause. This is why I loved Mohammad Ali, Sidney Poitier, and Harry Belafonte. The trio that changed America for me. They didn't care; they spoke their realities so that others understood them. They weathered the storm of hypocrisy, racism, and inequality. Their voices could not be hushed; they would not allow it. They made sure that their voices were heard and their presence felt.
Unfortunately, there are so many people of color in positions that could make a difference, and all they do is collect the green. They stand for nothing, speak against anything, or stand for no one but themselves.
I saw and felt you, and I thank you, Harry Belafonte. You, the Man! Rest well. You did your job. I'm enjoying the fruits.
