Leo Gilling - The Early Years of My Life
The top shelf of my life in Oracabessa, Jamaica are the early days that molded me to being ready for what was to come. My first 12 years of life in tenement living may have been tough for my parents but it was normal to me. We didn’t know better. Some of the closest friends I have today, best recalled memories, survival skills developed , ethical principles, love for others, were developed during those critical years. My mother protected us from extreme hunger and wanting. If we came out of rough times (and it was), the relationships we built helped me to remain straight, yet develop my own sense of purpose, reasoning abilities and my capacity to make choices that created whomever I am and where ever I am in life today. It felt good to reminisce.
