“Make sure I see you on the other side of this pandemic; keep safe”

Approximately 100 years ago the H1N1 pandemic caused the worldwide death of over 50 million people. America suffered a loss of more than 675 thousand lives. In 2019, discussions about a 1918 pandemic were almost irrelevant, moot, and far less substantive than today.

Earlier in 2020, there was a huge fright caused by the almost instant and overwhelming upsurge of this virus in New York and the quick tallying of deaths. The uncertainty of how the virus was contracted sent many of us in a state of confusion. Pundits, naturalists, clergy, scientists all had their varied theories, thoughts, predictions, and cures. Many of us, during the upsurge, feared most, the loss of loved ones, not ourselves, because the pain of a loss, not able to visit hospitals, not able to see them off was mostly burdensome.

Into the third quarter of 2020, as we grapple with the existence of this virus around the world, new fears arise. Our own morbidity, mortality, the life of the pandemic, and how many friends we will have once there is no more threat of the Corona Virus; are all fears that all of us are having to deal with today.

Recently, inside of our circles, the pandemic started to affect our friends, close loved-ones, families, and many of them are losing the fight against the virus. It is now hitting home or very close to home. Who is next…
