Today is International Women’s Day! And March is International Women’s Month. While this is a great occasion to name the prominent women throughout history who have made major impacts globally, economically, or socially: Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Nanny of the Maroons, Susan B Anthony, etc., I will instead draw reference to the women that are currently impacting lives today. Some of these women you may know because of their public lives, others you may not because they are quiet storms. Some I have worked with while others I admire for their work.
I chose these women because of their:
Selflessness even when others aren't looking
Work ethic and tireless commitment to empowering others
Ability to listen with big ears and resolve problems
Focus on the right things always, even if the wrong things may be easier
Ability to reason to a fault
Willingness to say "Yes, that's true, I am wrong"
Impartial approach and ability to articulate without bias
Ability to lead from in front, beside, or behind
Sense of honor, probity, and integrity
Ability to execute, a key characteristic to their success
Here they are, in no particular order:
